Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 counts, hold at the top, then breathe out slowly through your mouth for 6 counts.
Hello,
This month, the energy in Portland has been buzzing with beehives, community connection, and news of what’s to come. Are you starting a new project? Feeling energized to revive a nostalgic one? Lately, I’ve felt especially connected to the earth, to community, and eager to share a few messages that rang especially clear this month.
May was Apraxia Awareness Month. If I didn’t see you at Centria’s Autism Parent Resource Fair, you may have missed an eye-opening challenge designed to help loved ones better understand how the brain and body can miscommunicate in an apraxic body.

Spelling tip of the month:
Take your spelling boards outside.
Ground with your toes in the grass before a lesson or spell under the trees to regulate with nature
Speller quote of the month:
“I WOULD USE SPELLING TO COMMUNICATE FOR YOUR NONSPEAKER BECAUSE IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE IN A POSITIVE MANNER. WITHOUT SPELLING I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO EXPRESS MY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. I FEEL FREE BECAUSE I CAN SPELL TO COMMUNICATE.”
—Dylan L. 16 y/o nonspeaker
